Dr Basta graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School and went on to Florida International University receiving his bachelor's degree in biology as a member of the honors college. Thereafter, he decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine attending the University of Florida graduating with honors and received his postbaccalaureate in animal science. He attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine doing his clinical year of Instruction at the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 2004.

Dr Basta is a second generation veterinarian following in his father's footsteps.  Shortly after graduating he accepted a position in a 10 doctor general practice and emergency hospital in Queens NY.  After 2 years of professional experience, he decided to move back to sunny South Florida and accepted a position in the Aventura, Florida area along side his very inspiration, his father.

It was at this time, Dr Basta explored his interest in oral surgery and dentistry along with internal medicine, dermatology, and general surgery.  A few years later, Dr Basta purchased the practice and expanded services and his skills to better serve his patients, clients, and community.  As a result, Dr Basta took exceptional interest in oral surgery and dentistry mentored by our very own Dr. Jan Bellows and Dr. Elizabeth McMorran.  Dr. Basta has practiced veterinary medicine since 2004 and has decided to join "the best team in South Florida" to pursue a track in oral surgery and dentistry. 

Dr. Basta speaks four languages English, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese. He is an avid Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioner, studying and practicing the art for over 10 years. He has 3 wonderful children, 3 cats and 2 guinea pigs. In his spare time, he trains Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and spends time on the water fishing. We are excited to have him join our team as an experienced veterinarian aligned with our commitment to upholding the highest standards of care for our patients and community.
